FRESH ABALONE
South Africa mainly exports abalone, live, fresh or chilled, prepared or preserved abalone in airtight metal containers and abalone other (dried or frozen), to Hong Kong, China, Taipei – China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, United Arab Emirates and Australia.
Abalone in South Africa (both farmed and wild), is a premium species with superior product characteristics, though it is produced in relatively small quantities. From a branding perspective, the country has the appropriate geography (unpolluted – the Atlantic, Southern and Indian Ocean), which has the only Haliotis Midae or perlemoen species in the world. South African abalone is highly prized in the markets due its flavour, texture, form and size. It is also highly valued by importers because it is a robust animal that travels well and can survive well in the restaurant tanks, which is the preferred style in Hong Kong. South African canned abalone is also highly favoured as no preservatives or bleaches are added to the brine as is done with Australian abalone.
Mayime Winery (Pty) Ltd
INKOSI
Mayime Primary Agricultural Cooperative is located near the town of Whittlesea in the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality of Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. They have successfully established a wine grape enterprise as well as a dairy enterprise.
The wine grape enterprise was established in 2012 with the planting of five hectares of grapes at the Shiloh Irrigation Scheme. An additional seven hectares of grapes was planted in 2015. The cultivars planted thus far are Pinotage, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Colombard. This community project forms part of the Chris Hani District Municipality’s & Chris Hani Development Agency’s social development program alongside a joint venture between FarmVision and the Mayime Primary Agricultural Co-operative. The Mayime Cooperative is the major shareholder in this partnership.
Through the partnership with FarmVision, the plan is to plant about 100 ha over a five-year period. This partnership will also see the construction of a 100 tons winery in the Shiloh Irrigation Scheme aimed to create more jobs at the winery and vineyard.
The wine grapes have been processed and bottled in the Western Cape. The intention is to ensure that the complete value chain which leads up to bottling and labelling happens within its precincts. The first wine was bottled under the Inkosi label in 2016 and which resulted in the first community wine ever produced in South Africa.
RAW AFRICAN HONEY
Beekeeping is a traditional practice that dates back 500 years in North Western Zambia. Bark hives are kept in trees and spread out over large distances as far as 50 kilometers. These hives can last up to 20 years.
No antibiotics are used at any point in the beekeeping and honey harvesting process, and because the bees forage deep in the Miombo forests – an area far removed from commercial agriculture – the resulting product is untouched by any chemicals.
These methods have been passed down from generation to generation among our beekeepers, and we are pleased to have learned from them and to work with them to continue this special tradition.

FRESH FRUIT PRODUCTS
Our fruit is sourced from all of the large citrus producing areas of South Africa. Good relationships with the producers enables us to optimally plan for good quality product and the efficient operation of the processing facilities.The fruit demographics of the different regions are different from one another which mean the technology and the equipment in the facilities vary to ensure optimal utilisation of the fruit from the region and adapt to logistical needs for the specific regions.
Temperatures applied to the juice are closely monitored to ensure the best possible quality at a food safe standard. From extraction to filling, the juice is kept in a closed system and passes through various filtering points to ensure a food safe product free from environmental contaminants. All of the facilities are FSSC22000 and SGF accredited confirming our commitment to conform to international standards of food safety
Products are filled in open and closed top drums on both aseptic and frozen methods. Products are stored at various approved facilities around the country with with a shelf life of up to 24 months. The large logistical footprint enables us to serve various international markets as well as the local market with relative ease.
CONCENTRATES & BLENDS
Blends are produced from a large variety of fruits and customised according to our clients individual specifications. Packaging is done in drums, cartons, flexi tanks, blo-packs, and can be frozen, preserved or aseptically packed. These products can be used for 100% juices, nectars, tropical blend juices, cocktails, carbonated drinks, still drinks and syrups.
